During the Mississauga 10K race last month, I noticed that I was out of breathe. It led me to think about my breathing technique over the last couple of weeks. My personal trainer confirmed my thoughts and told me I was breathing wrong. The right way to breathe while running is in through the nose, and out through the mouth. During the run, I am pretty sure I was breathing in and out through my mouth.
The last couple of runs, I have been focusing on my breathing technique and it is not easy. I am constantly trying to breathe in through my nose and out through the mouth. Tonight, I just did a quick search and found this article on Runner’s World about breathing technique. The article has some good tips on breathing rhythmically with your steps.
I will try this and hope to get this down pack before the NYC Marathon later this fall. Anyone have any tips on breathing?
